Christmas the perfect time on the water at Coomera

Hi Everyone, well it’s that time of year again “Christmas” I hope everyone is looking forward to a relaxing break, we have all our Houseboats heading out on the water to celebrate with family and friends.  I would like to thank everyone for contributing to the Fishing Report with info and great photos during the year.  Hope Santa brings you all some nice new Fishing Gear and you get out on the water and christen it.

Christmas is a busy time on the water, we have all out Houseboats heading out to enjoy a well earnt holiday.  Just because there will be a bit more boat traffic doesn’t mean the fishing will be quiet, the fish on the Gold Coast are used to a bit of traffic and should be on the bite for those that want to chase a feed.

Our staff have been catching some good quality Mud Crabs this week just in time for Christmas lunch, try the Coomera River and feeder creeks, Pimpama River, Tipplers Passage, Brown Island, The Never Fail Islands, Jacobs Well, Canaipa Passage and Cabbage Tree Point.  Just make sure if you’re new to crabbing you are up to date with the rules and hopefully you can catch a great feed.

Local angler Michael has been landing some nice Jew Fish at night in the Coomera River on soft plastics while targeting Jacks. The Gold Coast Seaway pipeline has been holding good numbers of Jew Fish this week and I also landed a nice Amberjack on a micro jig off the Pipe last week.  The Pin Bar entrance has also been fishing well for a quality Jewfish.

A good option for the kids would be to target Bream, Whiting and Flathead which have been around in good numbers. Customers have been fishing around the edges of sandbanks in the Coomera River, Wave Break Island, Crab Island, Tiger Mullet Channel, Jacobs Well, Canaipa Passage, Bedrooms. Shore based try Paradise Point, Hope Island, Biggera Waters, Labrador and Jacobs Well. Try Prawns, Worms, White Pilchards, Mullet fillet or Yabbies will do the job.

Seabreeze is a great website to access a local forecast http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/

At the time of writing my report the weather looks great for the next week with light to moderate E/NE winds.  A bit of patience and care will go a long way with the extra traffic on the water and at the local boat ramps.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year from all of us at Coomera Houseboat Holidays & Coomera Bait & Tackle.

If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to brett@coomerahouseboats.com.au    Good luck with the Fishing.  Brett
