I am sure this is al- ready happening in nu- merous businesses and across many sectors, but we should be re- viewing how dependent we are on one country.

As we have seen first- hand, it can impact our economy and our way of life.
As part of the com- petition, there would be a campaign to teach people how to catch the selected species – taking a wholistic approach and getting the tackle shops, rel- evant Facebook pages and fishing magazines to provide informa- tion and tips on how to catch these specific fish.
Particularly with the current influx of people from down south, who are coming here to en- joy our beautiful state and all it has to offer, including fishing.
There is sure to be more to unfold on this, given our current situ- ation.
This combined with existing green zones means there is a more concentrated fishing ef- fort in the same sized area.
Though I’m hopeful as we progress through 2021, things will start to return to ‘normal’, whatever that is. Snapper closure
I’m not asking to re- move green zones but instead add more reefs so we are actually in- creasing the number of areas fish can breed and live.
I recently went to a workshop in Wyn- num where recreational fishers discussed ideas on how to take the fo- cus off snapper during the closed season and change ingrained habits.
There are still plenty of details to work out and I’m not sure if it will come to fruition, but I think it has merit.
It seems so simple – I am not sure why more of this is not happening. Fishing
