The fish sit high up in the thermocline and are easier to target.
Repeat this process all the way along the bank until you get a bite or a fish.
I’d suggest a 1/2oz spinnerbait, lipless crank bait or a deep diving hard-body if you want to troll, and I’d be doing this around the front of the dam in the deep water, as this is where fish in the ther- mocline commonly like to hang out.
If you fish for more than an hour without any luck, change banks.

I do a lot of guiding on the dam and I teach my clients how to cast and retrieve.
Use your sounder to locate any fish sitting in 6m, as at this time of year this is where they are commonly found sitting.
With this method, you have a few differ- ent alternatives when it comes to targeting fish in the lake.
A good sounder will make your job a lot eas- ier in this situation.
I’d start the day by searching the edges of the lake and using 1/2oz spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits.
Search around un- til you find scattered fish sitting around the thermocline and begin casting 1/2oz jig heads rigged with 3” soft plas- tics or 20g spoons.
If the banks don’t fire, another alternative is to look for fish in the ther- mocline.
And if that doesn’t work, change tactics.
