On a road heading to the town’s water supply at Lake Belmore, you’ll find another site that was an archaeological dig location of the early Chinese settlement.
We were lucky to spend a little time with Tom, who is one of the true characters of the town.

Due to laws in those days the Chinese were forbidden to work the mining leases, so many turned to market gar- dening and other small businesses.
He gave us a good old laugh as he shared a few yarns of his life in a way only a true- blue Australian bushie could.
