Just to provide the exception to the rule, lakes on the eastern side of the Great Divid- ing Range often yield good results on purple and black lures, pos- sibly due to the pres- ence of dark-coloured red claw crayfish.
One last thought, larger goldens are very ordi- nary on the plate, so we always release big mod- els and keep smaller fish in the 35-40cm range for the table, because they are far less fatty.
