The sand dunes along the stretch of beach provide a nesting loca- tion for loggerhead tur- tles, and it’s vital to stay alert at night and early in the morning for adult turtles, and hatchlings at times.
While we’re subsidis- ing our diet with fresh fish, beachworms have been the go-to bait and an all-round enticer.
We’ve enjoyed walk- ing the beaches, surf- ing, fishing and enjoy- ing the wildlife when visiting the quiet little beach town.

I had the pleasure of seeing two massive en- dangered leatherback turtles just outside the shore break on the same stretch of beach, which only accentuates the message of taking it easy on the beach.
Unfortunately, the re- cent run of wind has proved a dampener on fishing, so being on the spot for the right con- ditions is a factor for success.
The wildlife is so pro- lific around these se- cluded beaches – I pad- dled out on my board and saw a sizable jew- fish suspended almost motionless in the green wall of the wave.
Of course, if the weather turns too nasty, a trip to the rum distill- ery in Bundaberg can help ease any disap- pointment.

High water around a full moon has produced the best results.
I must admit, we’re having a ball beach bumming around and exploring what Queens- land has to offer, as we continue to fall in love with so many hidden and lesser known des- tinations.
Moore Park Beach is a special location for families to visit.
Let’s hope once COV- ID-19 restrictions ease, we’ll be able to travel interstate and continue to see more of Australia.
