Tua with his bream caught out of LaBalsa Park

Exciting Kawana fishing

Hi there anglers,
Well it’s been an exciting week of fishing even though the weather has been a little less than ideal making it a challenge for us to get out for a fish.

Most people have been getting out he when there is break weather.

There is still some fantastic fish being caught.
Caloundra Wide has been producing some quality Snapper and Pearlies and reports are coming in of Northern Barwon Banks are turning up good bags of mixed Reef fish including Tuskfish, Moses perch, Pigfish Wrasse, Morwong and Sweetlip(Red Throats and Grass Sweetlip).

The Gneerings and Murpheys have been another great spot and it still seems burley is the key to catch some great fish off the bottom.

The Tuna seem to have gone quiet with sporadic bust up of schools.

There are some nice squid caught out there also and Old Woman Is. Is a great close in spot to try if you are keen for some Calamari.

Try just dangling your Squid Jig over the side and try to pick up a few extra’s.
The onshore activities have been fantastic even though the weather hasn’t been ideal.

There are some big Bream, Whiting and Flathead caught in the Mooloolah River with the best locations being the River Mouth, The Basin and the boat ramp.

Anywhere along LaBalsa Park has been a great spot as the Bream are in good numbers and are terrorising bait close to the ledges and drop offs.
The Buddina Beaches have been quiet recently but are producing some good Bream, Whiting and Flathead also.

The Dart has been quiet with only the little ones around at the moment.

Tailor season is almost upon us and there is a few being landed of Buddina Beaches but is hard to say that they are in good numbers.

Caloundra and around Moffatts Beach is the better location locally at the moment.
James got out in the Maroochy River this week and headed just past Coolum creek where a big drain leads out into the river where they fished the top of the tide for an exciting hour of non-stop bites and fish getting landed. 5 legal bream released and there were plenty more caught just undersize.

After that session there was one more destination to finish the day. He decided to stop at the Cod Hole and landed a nice 45cm dusky flathead which he took home for dinner.

There have still been a few Blue Swimmer and 3 Spot crabs around the mouth of the Maroochy River but my sources tell me the mud crabs have gone a little quiet.

We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are posting up.

We would also consider adding any home videos of great action be it river, ocean or beach. Please keep it PG. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiMyWsjGiFeTjRaWdTsQmnw
