BUNDABERG OFFSHORE
The offshore fishing last weekend surely turned it on. Plenty of cracker sized coral trout and red emperor were caught. Fingers crossed the weather plays the game this weekend, with the smaller tides this weekend and a building moon, the fish should be really on the chew. Remember to focus on the tide changes when fishing the deep, fishing one hour either side of the tide sure can make your day a ripper. As always, check the weather report before heading out.
BUNDABERG INSHORE
With the cooler weather we are starting to experience, the snapper are starting to turn up. Some nice sized ones have been getting caught. Fishing the sunrise and sunset is definitely the hot bite time. Jigging 5” soft plastics has been getting most of the bites. There’s also still some big spanish mackerel roaming around so be sure to troll a bait for them.
THE BURNETT RIVER
The Burnett River surely has been producing some good numbers of bream. Kirby’s Wall sure has been one of the hot spots, both lures and bait have been getting plenty of the bream action. With the smaller tides it will be well worth a look for a feed of prawns, the deeper holes in the river has been the standout spots. The blue salmon are starting to turn up as well so be sure to throw some vibes towards the town reach.
THE KOLAN RIVER AND BAFFLE CREEK
The flathead have been on the bite in these two systems over the past week. Slow rolling paddle tail soft plastics and trolling small hard body lures have been getting most of the bites. Fishing the outgoing tide for these fish is definitely the preferred time to chase them. There’s also been some very good grunter and whiting being caught. Most of these two species have been taking a liking to fresh yabbies. Definitely don’t forget to have your cast net in your boat because there’s some really nice prawns getting around up there as well.
LAKE MONDURAN
Even with these cooler days, the barra fishing up at Lake Monduran has been good. There’s still been 1m+ barra being caught. With the shallower water being the warmer place, the fish are starting to move up in the shallower bays. Jackal Squirrels and Samaki Redics have been getting most of the action. With the cooler mornings, I’d be aiming to fish more around the mid/late afternoon. Remember to always fish with confidence. You never know when the 1m+ barra will smash your lure!
