Glorious winter fishing around Kawana

The wind and swell are at a low point and the high tides coincide with dusk and dawn. This makes fishing easy and comfortable wherever you are.
The offshore is set to fire with some boats taking advantage and heading out before the weekend. There are reports of good mixed bag species around the inner reefs with the Gneerings and Murpheys the hotspots. There have been plenty of Snapper, Pearlies and Sweetlip taking the big baits of squid and Pilly’s. Try floating a slimy, Bonito or Jumbo Pilly out the back of the boat For the potential of snagging a rogue Snapper, Kingy or Cobia.
The Mooloolah River has been pretty busy off the entrance with some nice Grunter and big Bream prominently caught on small pilly’s. Give some soft plastics a go with chrome lures to mix things up and you might also catch a Taylor or two. Around Labalsa Parks Boat ramp and The Basin there is plenty of action from the likes of Whiting, Bream and Flathead. Some big 40cm Bream have been reported but there are plenty around 30-35cm. Small vibe lures and TT Switchblades are a great way to land a nice bream. They hit harder and the fight is very exciting. With these lures there is every chance of landing a rogue Trevally.
The Buddina and Kawana Beaches have not had the gutters we would like. With the beach conditions being flat the small gutters are easy to reach with the low tide the better option for Bream and mid to High tide better for landing some Tailor. The Jew fish are still hard to come buy but close to Pt Cartwright rocks would be my best location for them.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiMyWsjGiFeTjRaWdTsQmnw
