Regular contributor with photos and info to our weekly report Bryce sent us a great photo of his Dad with a quality Snapper around the 5-6kg mark landed on 8kg mono on a recent trip offshore, well done guys it’s good to see you getting amongst the fish.
Bryce also had some fun fishing Foxwell Island in the Coomera River next to our office on Sunday landing some quality Flathead on soft plastics.
Fishing both inshore & offshore has produced some quality catches this week.
Customers have been catching a few nice Bream, good numbers of fish have been on offer in the Gold Coast Seaway, Wave Break Island, Southport Bridge, Paradise Point, Coomera River, Dux, Jacobs Well, Logan River, Crusoe Island and Short Island. As winter comes to an end the size of fish may decrease a bit but we will still be able to find a nice feed.
Reports of good numbers of Flathead throughout the Broadwater, Jumpinpin and local rivers are great news with the Flathead Classic starting 30/9/15.
Fish have been caught in all depths of water and are responding to drifting baits, Blades, Vibes, Soft Plastics and Hard Body Lures.
Flathead are an ambush predator, just remember to keep the bait or lure on the move until you get a strike. If you find the fish work the area for a while as they have been schooling up in good numbers lately.
Good spots to try are Crab Island middle banks, Brown Island, Aldershots, Tipplers Passage, Coomera River, Never Fails Islands, Jacobs Well, Bedrooms, Kalinga Bank, Canaipa Passage and Logan River.
I managed to get off shore with my mate Wayne on Tuesday and found a few fish on the local reefs east of the Seaway.
Float lining WA Pilchards & Squid produced some nice Snapper up to 6kg, Trag Jew and a few mixed species.
We have had reports of large Jew Fish, Cobia, Snapper, Moses and Tusk Fish being caught on the close reefs east of the Seaway & Jumpinpin.
Out wider on the 36 -50 fathom line some nice Pearl Perch, AJ, Sampson, Snapper and Yellow Tail Kingfish have been caught.
Both Mud Crabs and Sand Crabs have been on the chew this week, it’s always worth dropping a few pots while you’re fishing.
At the time of writing my report it looks like we will see some Easterly wind on Friday, wind will then tend Northerly during the weekend at 10-15 knots with a few showers around.
Fishing the Jumpinpin area or the rivers will be the best option to find a spot out of the breeze, Sunday is the pick on the days so far.
If you have any great catches to report or fishing photos please email them to email@example.com
Good luck with the Fishing. Brett
