2017 Flathead Classic

2017 Flathead Classic

FOLLOWING the biggest Gold Coast Flathead Classic on record in 2016, with 588 competitors and 240 teams, 2017 Flathead Classic  is set to be even bigger and better as the event celebrates its 24th year.

The Flathead Classic organisers will continue to bring you one of the best fishing competitions in Australia. During 2016, over $250,000 in prizes was given away over four days thanks to the great support of all sponsors.

Flathead Classic organiser the Gold Coast Sport Fishing Club has reached out to participants who voted to change the fishing days so the final day of competition is on a Friday rather than Saturday due to many major grand final sporting events being held across the nation.

Therefore, the 2017 Gold Coast Flathead Classic will begin on Tuesday, September 26 (registration afternoon), with fishing from Wednesday, September 27 to Friday, September 29.

This year also sees the Flathead Classic introduce payment plans (lay-by) to help participants pay off their ticket over four easy monthly payments. With a limited number of tickets allocated to lay-by, participants are encouraged to get in fast to secure this option. Lay-by will be unavailable from May 1 unless sold out prior.

With record sponsorship in 2016 including major support from Great Northern Brewing Co and Surf Coast Marine who provided the $30,000 Quintrex/Evinrude boat package, many sponsors are excited to jump back on board in 2017 to continue many years of commitment to the event.

Through social and digital mediums, in 2016 the Gold Coast Flathead Classic reached over a million people, giving sponsors huge exposure. You can register your interest in sponsorship now on the new website. A fresh new look has been introduced for the 2017 event along with a brand-new dedicated website that offers far greater information about the event.

The website also features information about the beautiful Gold Coast and useful information for anglers looking to bring the family along for the school holidays. In addition, a new ticketing system has been introduced to help streamline registration on day one of the event, with a smartphone app and barcode for allocated tickets.
