Telwater recalls Savage fibreglass boats

QUEENSLAND-based manufacturer Telwater has issued a recall notice for a range of Savage fibreglass models built between February 2012 and October 2016.

The affected models include the 645C, 655C and 655C Hard Top models.

According to the recall notice, the bow section of the fibreglass hull structure on the boats may show signs of gelcoat crazing below the cabin area of the vessel. In turn, this may weaken over time to a point where the fibreglass structure could crack allowing water to get in. A list of the Hull Identification Numbers of about 80 boats which may be affected is available on the Product Safety Australia and Telwater websites.

Boat owners are advised to immediately stop using their vessels and make a booking with their local Savage dealer to have the boat assessed. If the defect relating to the hull structure is identified, the hull will be returned to Telwater for further evaluation.

Any defects will be rectified or a replacement product offered if rectification is not possible. For further information, consumers should contact Telwater on 07 5585 9898, email recall@telwater.com.au, or visit the Telwater website.
