THE Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club is again hosting the Wilson Moreton Bay & Offshore Family Fishing Challenge from June 3-5.
This year marks the event’s 25th anniversary, however it will be a shorter competition due to the moving of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Accordingly, the entry fee has been reduced by $20 to $100 for seniors, while junior entry fees will remain at $30.
Our major sponsors Wilson Fishing, Stones Corner Marine, Events in Tents and Toll NQX are again backing the Challenge.
Although a shorter event, the fish prizes will remain the same, as will the Pick of the Board daily event and Major Lucky Draw prizes of a Bonza Graphics-wrapped Sea Jay 4.25 Magnum boat and Yamaha 30hp motor supplied by Stones Corner Marine as well as two kayaks for the junior lucky draw. There will be fish categories including Senior, Ladies and Juniors as well as the Kilo Bream Club, 40cm Whiting Club, Big Nobby Club and catch and release largest Flathead competition.
The Challenge has become a calendar event over the years and is eagerly awaited by not only anglers from the Redlands but also far afield. Over the past 24 years the club has given away hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, including numerous boats. It is something the club does as a community event, not just as a fundraiser.
We hope to make this year something special to celebrate our 25th consecutive year of bringing people together for a fun-filled weekend in the Redlands.
Thanks to all of our sponsors including Alvey Reels Australia, Bay FM, Bush ‘n Beach Fishing magazine, Redland City Council, Freezetec, Hayes Crab Pots, BCF Capalaba, Switchbait, IT Refills, Feel Free Kayaks, J D Sound, Kennards Cleveland, Boatcatch, Wedderburn, Statewide Survey Group and Stradbroke Ferries who help make this event possible.
