New 40hp and 60hp Mercury SeaPro FourStrokes have arrived

COMMERCIAL and government operators across Australia and New Zealand can now enjoy the many benefits of  new 40hp and 60hp Mercury SeaPro FourStroke outboards.

Now available, these much-anticipated Mercury SeaPro engines have been engineered by Mercury experts to thrive on hard work, long hours and harsh saltwater environments. SeaPro engines, with their robust high-displacement and low-weight design, deliver the performance required by commercial users with significantly increased durability.

Mercury director of Engine Products and Marketing Nicholas Webb said: “With SeaPro we have taken our newest mid-range FourStroke outboards to the next level of engine durability and fuel efficiency, while also including a range of specific features for commercial users.”

For example, all SeaPro engines feature a focused Mount System – this optimum mount design reduces overall vibration while improving durability for comfort and long-term performance.

Mercury’s larger Command Thrust gearcase, which creates a bigger footprint in the water and provides more leverage to control the boat, is standard on the new 40hp and 60hp SeaPro models.

The Command Thrust’s larger torpedo, combined with a bigger-diameter prop, can lift a heavy boat onto the plane more easily and hold it there at lower speeds without impacting top speed. Also, the gearcase oil drain and fill is in the torpedo, allowing the engine to be tilted for easy drainage and refilling without the need to move the boat from the water and also without the need to remove the propeller to change the gearcase oil.

Of course, Mercury is driven by perpetual improvement, so these new additions to the SeaPro family also include a commercial-grade fuel pump, stainless steel thermostat and improved gas assist trim cylinder (on select models).
“The new 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines complement the 75hp, 90hp, 115hp and 150hp SeaPro FourStrokes that were released in 2015,” Nicholas said.

“With the SeaPro range, Mercury is clearly displaying our commitment to providing the commercial market around the world with the best possible outboards – engines which work as hard as their owners. “These aren’t just regular engines we’ve tweaked.
“SeaPro engines reflect Mercury’s commitment to create the most durable, most reliable four-stroke outboards for commercial applications that are also easy to maintain and deliver outstanding fuel economy.”

Along with Mercury’s exclusive multi-step paint process, the 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines come standard with an anodised driveshaft housing, further decreasing the opportunity for corrosion and improving performance and life in harsh saltwater environments. Mercury SeaPro FourStroke engines come packaged with full SmartCraft compatibility that allows operating metrics and diagnostics to be displayed on Mercury’s latest range of industry-leading digital gauges, giving drivers a clear window to engines’ performance data.

Commercial users can build a complete engine package with a range of options available including a water-separating fuel filter and Mercury Marine’s Big Tiller handle, which gives commercial operators just what they want – more room in the boat and simple hands-on control of their engine. All SeaPro models feature Mercury’s two-year/1000-hour commercial warranty and owners can rely on the largest service network in the industry.
