Offshore
The good weather gave anglers a chance to get offshore this week and chase a feed of reef fish. The close reefs 18 to 24 fathoms produced a mixed bag of Snapper, Moses, Trag, Tusk, Mauri Cod and a few legal Pearl Perch. The 36 to 50 fathoms reefs fished well for mixed species with good numbers of larger Pearl Perch. If you’re into to chasing Marlin the winder grounds weather permitting has been firing with plenty of feisty Blue Marlin and a few Stripes being tagged and released by lucky anglers.
Rivers
The Rivers have been fishing well after the rain, some good quality Whiting have been caught in the Logan River, Coomera North and South arms. Pimpama River and the Nerang River are the pick of the spots. The best tip is to use a nice long trace of 6lb Fluro carbon leader, 4 ball sinker and a size 6 short shank bait holder style hook work well. Worms or yabbies are the best bait.
If you don’t have plans for next weekend jump on board and support the team from Gold Coast Fishing Fanatics and help rid the Gold Coast waterways of the invasive pest Tilapia, Saturday November 4th from 6am to Noon at Robina West and South Lakes.
Note from the GCFF team “Leave your ego at the front door and come and help us put a dent in the Tilapia population on Nov 4”. Together we can retain a great bass fishery. Prize categories include Male, Female and Junior divisions. There will be thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes up for grabs, for more information check out the Gold Coast Fishing Fanatics facebook page.
Broadwater
Customers are still catching some quality Flathead and Bream throughout Jumpinpin and the Broadwater. Tiger Mullet Channel, Green Bank, Logan River, Canaipa Passage, Tipplers Passage, Cabbage Tree Point, Paradise Point, Currigee Channel and Wave Break Island.
Houseboat customers have been catching a few Sand Crabs this week. Try setting your pots on the edges of the main channel in the Broadwater, Tipplers Passage, Never Fail Islands, Jacobs Well and Tiger Mullet Channel. Mud Crabs have been showing up in better numbers after the rain.
I will be away on holidays for the next two week hopefully chasing a few fish. The team will take care of the fishing report and try to keep you all up to date on what’s been biting.
Hope you all have a good weekend and get out for a fish, if you have any reports please let us know how you went.
