DON’T miss Australia’s biggest Family Fishing Classic at the Gem of the Coral Coast Bowen’s front beach. Join in the fishing and family fun at the 27th Bowen Family Fishing Classic and Wet Weekend on September 21 and 22, 2019. Just like Bowen, the Bowen Family Fishing Classic is more than fishing – it’s a time for family and friends to relax beachside and be entertained, play, win and enjoy outdoor recreational activities for the weekend.
As the XXXX Beach Party gets underway on Saturday afternoon from 12pm when the amusements rides roar to life followed by the blessing of the fishermen and the local gospel band. The Show kicks off with live entertainment at the bar stage. Top class on stage entertainment from all over Queensland will be in Bowen for this much loved event.
The kids are never forgotten with ‘kids cake decorating’ and at 2pm and a Play2Learn craft, while the dads pop in on the free Boating and Fishing Seminar at 3pm. The NQCYC classic twilight race starts off at 3pm. Eyes turn to the main stage as the sun sets over the beautiful Bowen foreshore for the evening.
Graham Howle’s handsome voice starts the evening main stage entertainment as he sends out his lyrics raising emotions in listeners who clearly see the story unfolding within their minds. Melodies expertly ring from the guitar, words and stories resonate and Graham brilliantly delivers an unforgettable experience to all. Leading into the night Hybris 20 – a three-piece band features sultry and powerful female vocals by lead singer Airlie Norton. All three members have had independently successful musical careers for a number of years, meaning the audience are given a wide variety of bands and genres of many well-known and much-loved songs and artists.
They perform in Airlie Beach and The Whitsundays; but are often seen as far as Townsville and Mackay. 7.30pm seasoned cover band, A14 will bring their version of pub/modern rock to the stage as they have been doing since 2005. Who would have thought, that a band with a name so small, could have history so big? What started in A14’s high school music room, the band quickly progressed to entertaining crowds at local pubs and events from Townsville to Airlie Beach. A14 offers a captivating and high energy performance, with their fans describing them as ‘one of the best cover bands they’ve seen!’

And they are on again at 8.30pm just before the one and only Australian INXS show is the definitive ‘Live Baby Live’ tribute to INXS, which faithfully reproduces the live spectacle INXS were famous for all over the world. Featuring the incredible talent of Dellacoma Rio, whose uncanny portrayal of Michael Hutchence has crowds in awe at every performance. They are selling out venues worldwide with incredible high energy live shows, including headline concerts in Dubai, India, China, and New Zealand and exclusive headline theatre shows on international cruise ships.
Whether there’s 4000 people at Adelaide Convention Centre or a packed house at various clubs around the country, The Australian INXS Show captures the unforgettable essence of INXS and delivers a night not to be missed. Sunday morning and the locals and visitors can join in a fun run with proceeds to Cancer Research followed by brekky beachside with the best view around before a leisurely day of music and family fun, weigh in, and wonderful prizes all of which must go home with a lucky winner.
The kids need to come on down too, to have some hands-on fun with Play2Learn crafts by Keira and Melanie, sandcastle competition at 11am and lolly drop at 12pm. Something different this year is a sensory circus workshop at 1pm. The bar stage starts up again at 12.30pm with Sweet Alibis are one of the leading four-piece dance bands of the Whitsundays with a great upbeat repertoire of classic pop and rock.
Sweet Alibis aim to evoke happiness in their clients through their music. They are a professional and experienced group that guarantee to deliver a performance that their clients will remember. This unique and sassy band has a growing number of refreshing songs.
Lure casting and dash for cash competitions are also running, while the weigh-in raps up. This is all interspersed with a huge range of other activities from kids cake decorating, sand sculpting, lolly drop, and dash for cash. There will be heaps of rides for the young at heart. We aim to be more than entertainment, we challenge everyone to switch off screens, phones, games or Netflix and pop out into the fresh air with friends and family to Bowens front beach sound shell.
You can eat, drink and play – a celebration for all ages Headrush with four local Bowen lads that have got together with a mission to make a cover band that rocks have created a repertoire of songs that are heavy and loud with the intention to entertain a rock and roll audience.
With take to main stage at 3pm to get us all in the grove just before prize presentations and be thoroughly entertained before taking home a load of great prizes. An entry fee will be at the gate – $4, just a few gold coins – or $10 for a family if you don’t already have a nomination ticket.
