Bundaberg – weekly report

BUNDABERG OFFSHORE

With the building moon, the offshore fishing should be good this weekend – if the forecast plays the game. The tides will be awesome for fishing both the deep and shallow water. As always using pilchard and 5” soft plastics is effective in the shallows and bigger flesh bait is the go in the deep. Always check the latest weather report before heading out. Bundaberg

BUNDABERG INSHORE

The inshore reefs have been producing some very nice grunter and squire over the past week. Hopping 20g soft vibes off the bottom has been getting most the action but using squid and bait always gets the bite as well. If you can find the clearer water, be sure to pull some Flasha Spoon lures for the school mackerel as well. Bundaberg

BURNETT RIVER

With all the freshwater running into the Burnett at the moment, the crabs are definitely on the move and plenty are being caught. Fishing towards the mouth to find the clearer and saltier water is definitely a good idea. I’ve heard of some very nice flathead being caught towards the north wall. Slow rolling bright soft plastics on the bottom or trolling hard-body lures will get you into flathead action for sure. Bundaberg

KOLAN RIVER AND BAFFLE CREEEK

Again, mud crabs are on in these two systems with all the fresh running through, so be sure to drop the crab pots in. There seems to be plenty of bait moving around towards the mouth of these systems, which is attracting some very good-sized queenfish and giant trevally. Working a popper on the surface with both these species sure is exciting and very effective!

LAKE MONDURAN

Lake Monduran is still firing! Plenty of people are catching barramundi over the magic metre! With the building moon, the barra should be on the chew this weekend. Fishing the windblown points and bays, Jackall Super Squirrels and Wilson Live Mullets are getting most of the bites. Remember to fish with confidence out there, you never know when that trophy fish will hit your lure.
