Welcome to your weekly fishing report for the Sunshine Coast, brought to you by Bait Master Fishing and Tackle. Rainy conditions over the last week have been great for the garden, but not so great for a school holiday fishing trip! Conditions for the remainder of the school holidays are looking favourable, with warm days and manageable winds.
With no more rain on the horizon for the foreseeable future, the next few days look perfect to wet a line. Live bait is the go, with live beach worms available from our Bli Bli store. Our bait freezers will be restocked Friday morning in preparation for the weekend, so make sure you call in and stock up.
Maroochy River
Diamond, golden, and giant trevally have been spotted at the Cod Hole. The best way to catch these beauties is by jigging a 62mm Pro Lure Clone Prawn or Major Craft Jigpara 3-7g Micro Jigs.
There has been flathead caught around the flats of the Maroochy River. We recommend slow rolling a 3-inch paddle tail with the occasional pause to hook them.
Bream and whiting are in abundant around Chambers Island, Mudjimba Beach, and Sunshine Beach. Try low tide gutters with live beach worms for bait for the best results.
Sand crabs are plentiful at the mouth of the river, and mud crabs can be found in the upper reaches of the Maroochy River. Use flathead and whiting frames for bait for the sand crabs, and mullet or chicken frames as bait for the mud crabs.
Noosa River
Bream, flathead, and whiting are also abundant in the Noosa River. Make sure you bring your best gear and bait to catch these.
Caloundra
Dart, bream, and tailor have been making a splash along the beaches of Caloundra.
The popular flathead and bream have been biting well in the passage.
Queenfish and trevally have been spotted in good numbers along Golden Beach.
Offshore
Amberjack, tuskfish, snapper, and pearl perch have been caught at the Hards. Snapper have also been in the shipping channel.
