Sunshine Coast – weekly fishing report

Welcome to this week’s Sunshine Coast Fishing Report. It’s been another quiet week, particularly inshore, with not many catches reported. Despite the lull, there are still good opportunities for keen anglers. with patience once again key. As we head into the weekend, weather conditions look favourable for inshore anglers, however there are a few showers predicted.

Offshore fishers might find conditions a bit tricky, so make sure you check the latest weather information before heading out. The big tides expected next week will help to flush out dirty water from the rivers and estuaries, improving overall fishing conditions.

Fishing
Another trevally, this time a Tea Leaf caught by Harvey at Noosa.

Offshore

This week, offshore fishos have reported catches of gold spot estuary cod being caught across various locations. Although we are nearing the end of the spanish mackerel season, a few are still being hooked. Anglers at Caloundra Wide have been successful with catches of cobia, amberjack, kingfish, and pearl perch.

Estuary

The Maroochy River remains quiet. A few big flathead and trevally have been reported, and whiting are still being caught around the river mouth. Tailor are appearing sporadically along the beaches, though they aren’t schooling, making their presence somewhat unpredictable.

Fishing activity in Noosa mirrors that of Maroochy, with the river being quite subdued. Some anglers have reported catching the occasional flathead, trevally and bream. Sand whiting are still around, and there have been reports of good-sized mud crabs being caught.
