Swell and wind in favour for Kawana

Hi there anglers,
After all this rain we should be excited about the fishing that follows. Unfortunately it has started slow but it is definitely improving as the days pass around Kawana. The wind and swell will be in our favour on Saturday and Sunday. With bait filling the rivers and reefs we are expecting big things.
For the inner reefs it has been a little slow to take off but the signs are there. There is a lot of bait around with the odd busting school of tuna. Large Mackerel seem to have slowed down but are not gone with a few still around and are caught with live baits and float lines. Snapper were running well before the rain but since has only produced squire in close. Caloundra Wide seemed to be a better place to go this week but come the weekend the fish should have travelled in closer. The variety of reef species has been fantastic so you have to be out there to get that great session. When it fires it really fires.
The Mooloolah River hasn’t been heavily fished for over a week and should hit the ground running this weekend. The bream and garfish are starting to move in and should be prolific come the end of the month. The boat ramp and rock walls seem to be holding a good amount of bream and a few big ones too. The basin is still an easy destination to fish with trevally species, whiting and flathaed caught on beach worms, small pillies, herring and pipi’s. The mouth of the river was producing some great fish. With limited reports this week it is well worth the look considering how great it fished the previous few weeks.
The beach has been pretty quiet and the usual suspects are there. There have been a few Jew caught in the previous weeks and I can’t see why this week should be any different. There are some great gutters along Buddina beach and are worth testing out. Live beach worms, squid and mullet fillets seem to be the best baits to be using this winter.
We now have a Youtube Channel so jump on and check some of the informative video’s we are
posting up. We would also consider adding any home video’s, of great action be it river, ocean or
beach. Please keep it PG. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiMyWsjGiFeTjRaWdTsQmnw
