Hi there anglers,
Looks like there will be some patchy rain around Kawana but that shouldn’t hold anyone back from enjoying a relaxing fish. The wind will be starting to decrease from Friday afternoon through till Monday which again should give us a manageable weekend of fishing.
The inner reefs have showed more consistency recently with Old Woman and Arkwright Shoals keeping anglers busy with some Squid, Trevally and School Mackerel.
Currimundi and Raper Shoal either side of the high tide have picked up some nice Squire, School Mackerel and thumping Sweetlip.
Currimundi has also picked a few Kingfish and Cobia. Caloundra 9 Mile has been performing well for Snapper and Pearl Perch and the further you travel from the coast the number of catches have reduced but the quality of the fish do increase.
Remember to listen to the most up to date weather forecast before heading out this weekend. The onshore fishing will be fishing fantastic this weekend with as before mentioned the cloud cover and fresh water aspect.
The Beach has been throwing a few Tailor and Bream out with the deeper gutters working well on Bonito and Mullet fillets.
It looks like the river and canal entrances are the places to fish this weekend with the high tides just after lunch, the water flow will help aid your bait running of ledges into the deeper water where hopefully your fish of a lifetime is lurking. Use strip baits, Pilly’s, Beach Worms and Prawns for optimizing catches.
The Mooloolah River mouth has been the best location to fish with Tailor and School Mackerel on the bite. You can also take the same bait and head to the beaches at low tide and fish the inner gutter for thumping Bream at night with every chance of landing some Tailor and fingers crossed a Mulloway.
